This free resource is designed to help students build strong sound-symbol connections through explicit phoneme-grapheme mapping activities. It's ideal for small group intervention or whole-class instruction and aligns with the Science of Reading. Simply print the number of pages you'll need for your small group on white card stock and pop them into plastic sleeve protectors.

  • Tap It
Say the word out loud. Count the sounds (phonemes) and place sound chips on the stars - one chip per sound.

  • Map It
Write the matching letters (graphemes) for each sound in the boxes. One sound/box.

  • Graph It
Write the full word neatly on the handwriting lines using lowercase letters.

  • Zap It
Students use their magnetic wand to blend the sounds together and read the word aloud.
