Training

With 19 years of teaching experience - 8 of those focused specifically on reading intervention—I’m passionate about helping students strengthen their foundational reading skills. I currently serve as a Reading Specialist in the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation, working with students in grades K–5. I am a certified Indiana Dyslexia Reading Specialist and have completed LETRS training, an accredited program recognized by the International Dyslexia Association.

Getting Started

All new students begin with a comprehensive 1-hour assessment session. During this time, I administer a variety of diagnostic tools to gather meaningful data on your child’s current reading abilities, including phonological awareness, decoding, fluency, and comprehension. This in-depth evaluation helps identify both strengths and areas in need of support. The results allow me to design a personalized, research-based instructional plan that is specifically tailored to target your child’s unique learning needs.

Ongoing Sessions

Following the initial assessment, I typically recommend one of the following options:

  • One 60-minute session per week

  • Two 30-minute sessions per week

If intensive intervention is needed, I would recommend at least 2 full hours per week.

Have questions about which option is the best fit for your child? I’m happy to help guide you through the decision.
