So...this has been on my "to-do" list for about 4+ years. My oldest is going into 3rd grade this fall and I have been surrounded by piles of things that I knew I needed or wanted to keep/save all over my house since he was flipping BORN. This was the summer to get his school records & work organized - I finally did it! ![]() I went to Office Max and purchased a set of 2 stackable file boxes for $21.99. Not bad! I figured I could get Paxton's Preschool things organized and make one for him since he'll be starting Kindergarten. Rylie...she'll just have to wait for now. I also purchased two boxes of gray hanging file folders there to place inside the boxes (on sale - $18/2 boxes). Next, I used my Cameo Silhouette to create some black vinyl name stickers to clearly label the front of the storage boxes. Next came the gathering of the piles. Piles from closets. Piles from the basement. Piles from the bedrooms. Piles from junk drawers. After what seemed like forever...I decided I was ready to actually place things inside the boxes. I made files such as: Religious (Sacrament certificates & keepsakes) Preschool Records, Preschool Work Samples, Kindergarten Records, Kindergarten Work Samples, 1st Grade Records, 1st Grade Work Samples, etc. It is amazing how quickly the files fill up! I had quite a bit of artwork that I just carefully folded, and then stuck in...oh well. ![]() A peek at the labels. Give it a shot & get your kid's things organized - you'll feel SO much better! :)

A dear friend of ours LOVES horses, horse-racing, horse farms - you name it! As does my husband. One of the many things they share in common (politely masking their gambling addiction here...). Anyhow, they have lots of cool horse-themed wall art. The better half of this couple was looking to create a new wall collage in their living room incorporating some art they already owned + a couple of new pieces. After some brainstorming, I suggested creating BIG piece listing some of their favorite horse tracks. She ventured over to Blackbird Crossing Vintage Market and found an AWESOME old barn door that was HUGE. I ended up sawing off one board and rearranging the old hardware on the new piece and the size ended up working perfectly! We just hung it up yesterday and are both so pleased! She also added a cute framed photo of them at the Derby this past spring:) Before & After |
