This fun piece of distressed wall art features a large initial and name. It can be customized in a variety of colors, fonts, and of course - initials + names. This would make a fun gift for a new baby or for a child's bedroom.

What a great idea! A friend contacted me and asked if I could make a street name sign. Their neighbors (whom they love dearly and are sad to see go) are moving. She wanted to give them a special little something that would always remind them of their time in South Bend. And the end result - an adorable personalized street name sign to hang in their new home! I had been looking for a long time for a piece to hang in a narrow space in our kitchen to display our Weekly Family Schedule. Life is crazier than ever and I need lots of reminders for me! I knew exactly where I wanted to hang something, once I found it...but actually "the finding" part was a little challenging. I needed a narrow piece to fit in an area between our cupboards and doorway, and I knew wanted something slightly rustic. As I was strolling about on one of my many visits to Hobby Lobby, I ran across this fun New York sign in the clearance aisle. After eyeballing its size, I thought I could definitely modify it and make it work. I think it was about $35. So, I flipped it over and removed the three pieces of artwork that were inside of it. I was hoping to reuse them, but two were textured and the third had burlap actually glued to it. So - off to Menards I went. I purchased a larger piece of MDF board for about $5, then traced and sawed three pieces that were exactly the same size as what was originally in the artwork. I painted all three pieces of MDF board with chalkboard paint and then used my staple gun to secure them to the frame. Next, I used my Cameo Silhouette to create the text that I wanted to appear on our schedule sign and adhered it to it. I thought it would be fun to feature a "countdown area" at the top, to keep us all looking forward to something exciting:) And there you have it! 13 days til Spring Break {YAY!} and our weekly schedule. Pretty pleased! :) One of my recent Etsy customers was looking for fun signs to display on her double front doors of her home. I customized her text into a design and incorporated the black/white polka dot ribbon that she had requested.
Today is one of those days that I HAVE to think summer. In the Michiana area, we were blasted with yet another round of cold & snow. I mean LOTS of snow. I'm beginning to wonder if things will ever melt or thaw here...
My in-laws have a cute, little condo up on Diamond Lake, where we are lucky to spend lots of time in the summers. This winter, it was updated with a fresh coat of paint & new counter tops. My mother-in-law (aka Meeka) asked me to pop on up there to help her designate what she should "keep" and "let go of" in the place. Then comes the fun part...she asked me to do some shopping this spring for her to purchase some things for the condo! Twist my rubber arm! Shopping = happiness for me. We made a nice list and I hope to feature some of the goodies in the coming weeks. One of the items I suggested she purchase was a fun, large basket for the entry way. Everyone walks in & kicks off their flip-flops, so a cute basket was definitely needed. I bought the basket at TJ Maxx for $19.99 and added a wood plaque with chalkboard paint from Hobby Lobby. I then used my awesome Silhouette Cameo to cut out white vinyl lettering (Pharmacy font) that I adhered to the plaque and secured it with some ribbon I had. So fun + makes me think of summer...until I look out the window here, that is. Ugh. |
